Weekend: Art, Harvest, Culture & Bug Festivals, Farm & Nature Tours
Ready to play in the Triangle this weekend (Sept. 19-21)? Kids and families will find lots of fun things to do no matter what your interest, and many events are free. The choices range from festivals that celebrate bugs, the arts and the harvest season, to tours of local farms to meet animals and see how food is grown, to tours of nature preserves. Celebrate fall?s bounty and enjoy a post-Civil War era fair at the Bennett Place State Historic Site, a free program featuring craftsmen, period music, 19th century games and more. Weekend Fun: American Tobacco Party, Festival, Grandparents Day Events
This weekend, you can catch free kids movies, join in celebrations of National Grandparents Day and enjoy an outdoor family festival that features nature art, kids activities and more. The American Tobacco Campus is also inviting folks to join in its 10th birthday party, complete with street performers and food trucks.

Start the weekend off by taking your kids to see Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days at 7:45 p.m. Friday at Lake Benson Park, in Garner. This comedy is appropriate for all ages, free, and you?ll see it on a 30-foot outdoor screen. Coolers are welcome.

Summer family fun is ripe for the picking this weekend at the Town of Cary?s 38th Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, in downtown Cary. Admission is free! Go to enjoy entertainment on four stages, browse/purchase the work of 400 artists from across the U.S. and take your children to play at Kid?s World brought to you by Carolina Parent.

Kids World is an interactive area located in the Cary Post Office parking lot on Academy Street, where the lineup of fun for little ones includes theater and magic as well as make-and-take crafts and a snow field.
